A theory is a possible explanation of some phenomenon. Any theory is made up of a set of hypothesis.

Uma Teoria científica é um fato ou coleção de fatos estabelecidos ou experimentalmente verificados e relacionados ao domínio. Diferente do uso cotidiano da palavra teoria, esta não pode representar uma idéia não provada, ou apenas alguma especulação teórica. Sem prova, teorias representam apenas hipóteses.
